I’m MJ.
I write mysteries about families — the ones we’re born into, the ones we build, and the ones that don’t always survive what’s asked of them.
Some of my stories are light and funny. Some are darker and more reflective. All of them are interested in what happens when ordinary people are pushed past the point where good intentions are enough.
My love of mysteries started as a dyslexic child who relied on Nancy Drew and Trixie Belden to get me through the dreaded book report. I started my professional writing adventure when I owned a chocolate factory, where writing mysteries was a safer bet than murdering customers.
These days you’ll find me tooling around the Pacific Northwest in my jeep, with my teenager and our emotional support Yorkie, concocting my next captivating tale.
